Higher-order co-mutation interactions in mitochondrial genomes

چکیده
Abstract Pair-wise co-mutation networks of the mitochondrial genome have already provided ample evidences about roles genetic interactions in manifestation phenotype under altered environmental conditions. Here, we present a method to construct and analyze higher-order interactions, namely, three-uniform hypergraphs for different altitude populations decipher role co-mutating variable sites beyond pair-wise interactions. We considered human DNA residing at altitudes with respect Tibet Asia as case study. found that 50% gene triangles, two positions were occupied by coding genes, which suggested genes are dominantly involved forming hyperedges. Based on weights identified altitude-specific such as, low-altitude ATP6 ND mid-altitude CO1 high-altitude ATP6, CO1, CYB genes. This framework hypergraph serves an avenue future investigation nuclear genomes context phenotypic association disorders

Higher order mutation testing
This paper introduces a new paradigm for Mutation Testing, which we call Higher Order Mutation Testing (HOM Testing). Traditional Mutation Testing considers only first order mutants, created by the injection of a single fault. Often these first order mutants denote trivial faults that are easily killed. Higher order mutants are created by the insertion of two or more faults. The paper introduce...
متن کاملBird mitochondrial gene order: insight from 3 warbler mitochondrial genomes.
Two main gene orders exist in birds: the ancestral gene order and the remnant control region (CR) 2 gene order. These gene orders differ by the presence of 1 or 2 copies of the CR, respectively. Among songbirds, Oscines were thought to follow the ancestral gene order, with the exception of the lyrebird and Phylloscopus warblers. Here, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of ...
متن کاملThe causes of mutation accumulation in mitochondrial genomes.
A fundamental observation across eukaryotic taxa is that mitochondrial genomes have a higher load of deleterious mutations than nuclear genomes. Identifying the evolutionary forces that drive this difference is important to understanding the rates and patterns of sequence evolution, the efficacy of natural selection, the maintenance of sex and recombination and the mechanisms underlying human a...
متن کاملHigh mutation rates in the mitochondrial genomes of Daphnia pulex.
Despite the great utility of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence data in population genetics and phylogenetics, key parameters describing the process of mitochondrial mutation (e.g., the rate and spectrum of mutational change) are based on few direct estimates. Furthermore, the variation in the mtDNA mutation process within species or between lineages with contrasting reproductive strategies rem...
متن کاملHigher-order interactions characterized in cortical activity.
In the cortex, the interactions among neurons give rise to transient coherent activity patterns that underlie perception, cognition, and action. Recently, it was actively debated whether the most basic interactions, i.e., the pairwise correlations between neurons or groups of neurons, suffice to explain those observed activity patterns. So far, the evidence reported is controversial. Importantl...
